The main aim of the ITEC Level 3 Award in Taping and Strapping for Sport and Active Leisure is to enable Learners to gain the necessary practical and theoretical skills in order to provide Taping and Strapping treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the Sports and Fitness Industry. This qualification is suitable for Learners aged 16 and over and is designed to provide occupational competence at Level 3. It also provides a sound platform into further training at Level 3 and 4
The main skills the Learner will perform are:
Applying Taping and Strapping to support and limit specific movement - to include preparing for Taping and Strapping techniques, devising and agreeing strategies, positioning the client correctly, evaluating the effectiveness of Taping and Strapping, providing reassurance and giving the client opportunities for feedback and producing and storing client records
The Learner will also develop knowledge about hygiene, current health and safety legislation, adverse reactions and contraindications, referral processes and client care and communication which are essential to work and be successful in the Industry

The related knowledge and understanding required to perform the Taping and Strapping skills listed above effectively, in particular how anatomy and physiology underpins the application of Taping and Strapping and the physical and physiological effects of Taping and Strapping Opportunities for Learners to focus on the development of their wider skills in a Sports and Fitness setting such as communicating with clients, working with others and problem solving opportunities for Learners to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a Sports Therapist qualified in Taping and Strapping
