So today was our last day with Julie doing special effects and to say we were devastated is an understatement. Julie was an amazing tutor and taught us all the tricks of the trade. She had a wonderful sense of humour and was very approachable if in doubt. For our last class we got to work with prosthetics. There was a variety to choose from such as ears, noses, bald caps, eyes, horns etc. Julie performed a demo for us showing us how to apply it and how to smoothen out the edges. After that it was pretty much just painting it to what ever look we were aiming for. I picked a big and long nose and applied facial hair. Others applied horns, bald caps and created fantasy looks. After lunch then we swapped and Vicky created a very witchy look with a nose and chin with warts on it. Julie also gave us free reign to practise anything we have done with her in the past that we felt needed more work on. Having the prosthetics on itself wasn’t the most comfortable I will admit Lol! We had such a good laugh with applying them and seeing them on us in the mirror. They looked so funny! I thoroughly enjoyed every week working with Julie and the girls and I can definitely say that I love special effects. I love learning about new products for it and improvising such as a cornflake for a cold sore. It truly is inspiring. We have our first class with Melissa Clarke next week learning all things beauty so it will be a big change from the gruesome stuff Lol! I’m so looking forward to it. Melissa is such an amazing make-up artist and I love her work. I’ll leave pictures from this week’s work below.
That’s all for this week.
