Gorey Institute of Beauty Certificate in Microdermabrasion

This course is suitable for existing therapists that wish to add to their skills in advanced aesthetic microdermabrasion treatments.

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin-related concerns and conditions.

The microdermabrasion technique sprays fine particles of aluminum oxide or sodium bicarbonate with a vacuum/suction which gently sand away the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it.

Microdermabrasion is considered a safe procedure for most skin types and colours. People might choose to get the procedure if they have the following skin concerns:

fine lines and wrinkles
hyperpigmentation, age spots and brown spots
enlarged pores and blackheads
acne and acne scars
stretch marks
dull-looking skin complexion
uneven skin tone and texture
melasma
sun damage

This course will teach you to:

Ø Know safety considerations when providing microdermabrasion treatments

Ø Understand how to provide microdermabrasion treatments

Ø Know the relevant anatomy, physiology and pathologies for microdermabrasion treatment

Ø Be able to consult, plan and prepare for treatment

Ø Be able to provide microdermabrasion treatments

Must hold a relevant level 2 beauty qualification to enrol
